Usage

whois [-rev] [-norec] [-ieproxy] [-<proxy_type>=addr:port] domain [whois.server]

Command-line parameters

-rev

Use IP Reverse Lookup.

-norec

Don't query Registrator's Whois Server.

-ieproxy

Use IE proxy settings.

-<proxy_type>=addr:port

Use proxy. <proxy_type> can be one of the following values: https, sock4, sock5.

whois.server

The host or the IP address of the whois service.

Examples:

whois microsoft.com
whois -rev microsoft.com
whois 207.46.232.182
whois yahoo.com whois.crsnic.net
whois -ieproxy yahoo.com
whois -https=192.168.0.1:3128 google.com
whois -sock4=192.168.0.1:1080 google.com whois.crsnic.net:43
